What Is Evil Eye & Hasad (Jealousy)

Evil Eye & Hasad (Jealousy)

UNDERSTANDING THE EVIL EYE IN ISLAM: REALITY, IMPACT, AND PROTECTION BASED ON QUR’AN AND SUNNAH

The evil eye (Arabic: al-‘ayn) is a real and powerful phenomenon deeply rooted in Islamic teachings. It refers to the harm that can befall a person due to another’s envy, jealousy, or even excessive admiration.

While invisible to the eye, its effects can be destructive, penetrating deep into the human body, soul, and circumstances.

Allah has revealed in the Qur’an and through the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that the evil eye is a serious spiritual reality that requires both awareness and protection.

Allah ﷻ mentions in Surah Al-Falaq (113:5), “And from the evil of the envier when he envies,” clearly confirming the potential harm that envy and the evil eye can cause.

Likewise, in Surah Yusuf (12:67), Prophet Ya’qub (peace be upon him) advised his sons not to enter from one gate, but from different gates, fearing the evil eye due to their strong appearance and status. This shows that even the Prophets of Allah took the evil eye seriously.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said in an authentic hadith reported in Sahih Muslim, “The evil eye is real, and if anything were to overtake the divine decree, it would be the evil eye.” (Muslim 2188)

The evil eye works through a form of negative energy or spiritual projection that occurs when a person looks at someone with envy, jealousy, or amazement without invoking the name of Allah.

The unseen forces connected to this energy whether from humans or jinn attach themselves to the one being targeted, leading to a series of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual symptoms. Some scholars differentiate between the “admiring eye” (from someone who may love you but forgets to say Masha’Allah) and the “envious eye” (driven by hatred, jealousy, or even hidden animosity).

There are layers to how the evil eye operates. The surface layer may cause mild symptoms like headaches, tiredness, laziness, forgetfulness, or minor losses. A deeper layer can affect wealth, relationships, beauty, health, success, and even faith.

Some victims suffer sudden illnesses without medical explanation, miscarriages, delayed marriages, loss of business, constant arguments at home, or a sudden loss of confidence and energy. In more intense cases, it opens a gateway for jinn interference, leading to possession, intense waswasah (whispers), and psychological disturbances.

The types of evil eye are also varied. One is ‘ayn al-hasad (the envious evil eye), which stems from jealousy and ill-intent. Another is ‘ayn al-‘ajb (the admiring evil eye), which comes from excessive praise without remembrance of Allah. A third form, often unspoken, is the ‘ayn al-nafs (self-inflicted evil eye), when a person admires their own blessings without saying Masha’Allah, unknowingly harming themselves.

Its damage is multidimensional. Spiritually, it weakens the connection with Allah, causing the person to miss salah, feel disconnected during worship, and lose clarity. Physically, it can manifest as chronic fatigue, sudden illnesses, or strange medical conditions that cannot be diagnosed.

Emotionally, it can lead to depression, fear, anxiety, and social withdrawal. It also affects rizq (provision), barakah (blessings), marriage, studies, and work progress. People suffering from evil eye often describe their life as being “stuck” or as if something is “blocking” every effort they make.

From a spiritual insight perspective, the evil eye leaves an energetic imprint that distorts the natural flow of a person’s life, like invisible chains that delay or destroy blessings before they fully manifest. The jinn may take advantage of the spiritual wound caused by the evil eye and attack the person further.

To protect oneself, the Qur’an and Sunnah emphasize regular recitation of Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Naas, known as Al-Mu’awwidhatayn, along with Ayat al-Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255).

The Prophet ﷺ also taught the morning and evening adhkaar, blowing into one’s palms and wiping over the body three times before sleeping, and using Ruqyah when symptoms appear.

In Sahih Bukhari, the Prophet ﷺ instructed to perform ruqyah for evil eye and even named the one who gave the evil eye in some instances, showing it’s a diagnosable and treatable spiritual condition.

In conclusion, the evil eye is a reality that should neither be denied nor exaggerated, but understood deeply. It is a spiritual sickness that requires both prevention and healing through tawheed, consistent dhikr, ruqyah, and strong connection with Allah.

No amulet, charm, or superstition can protect you only the words of Allah and trust in Him can. By maintaining sincerity, humility, and gratitude, and by avoiding showing off our blessings unnecessarily, we reduce our exposure. The evil eye is real, but the protection of Allah is stronger.

DEEP DIVE INTO THE TYPES OF EVIL EYE: HOT AND COLD

The evil eye (al-‘ayn) isn’t just a one-dimensional affliction. Among the spiritual scholars and experienced raqis, the evil eye is often categorized into “hot evil eye” and “cold evil eye,” each with its own characteristics, effects, and energetic footprint.

While not specifically named in the Qur’an or Sahih hadith with these terms, these classifications are based on centuries of Islamic healing experience, and they help us understand the depth and layers of how the evil eye functions.

Hot Evil Eye (Al-‘Ayn Al-Haara)

This type of evil eye comes with intense, fiery, envious energy driven by hatred, competition, jealousy, or deep malice. It’s usually from someone who doesn’t want you to have what you have, or wants it destroyed entirely.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “The evil eye is real, and if anything could overtake qadr (divine decree), it would be the evil eye.” (Muslim 2188)

This includes the harmful, destructive intent behind the hot evil eye.

Symptoms of Hot Evil Eye may include:
  1. Sudden high fever or heat waves in the body with no medical explanation
  2. Burning sensations in specific parts of the body, especially head, back, or chest
  3. Sudden breakdowns of health, devices, cars, or relationships after a person was praised or envied
  4. Intense restlessness, irritability, anger, or rage outbursts
  5. Persistent spiritual blockage: a person may feel heavy during worship or unable to concentrate in salah or dhikr
  6. Even miscarriages, delayed marriages, or financial crashes after visible achievements
  7. Energetically, hot evil eye acts like fire. It burns barakah (blessings), scorches peace, and creates confusion. Some people under this type experience dreams involving fire, snakes, or sudden destruction.
COLD EVIL EYE (AL-‘AYN AL-BAARI’DAH)

This is more subtle and deceptive. The cold evil eye usually comes from people who don’t intend harm directly, but fail to say “Masha’Allah”, “Allahuma bariq” or are unaware that their admiration, jealousy, or silent comparison can cause damage. Sometimes, it comes from loved ones or even from yourself (self-‘ayn).

Symptoms of Cold Evil Eye may include:
  1. Chronic fatigue or heaviness without physical illness
  2. Depression, sadness, or social withdrawal
  3. Forgetfulness, confusion, and loss of motivation
  4. Feeling like everything is “blocked” or not moving in life, yet there’s no major crisis
  5. Cold hands and feet or feeling chills without external cold
  6. Quiet destruction: loss of rizq (provision), failed proposals, cancelled deals, missed opportunities
  7. This evil eye creeps in silently. It does not explode things it drains, delays, and derails. A person may be spiritually asleep, unaware they are affected, until deep damage is done. That’s why this type is often more dangerous long-term.

How Evil Eye Works Spiritually

The evil eye operates through a real energy transfer. It is a spiritual arrow sent from the soul of the envier to the target. If the target is spiritually unprotected, that arrow strikes.

In a hadith, the Prophet ﷺ said: “The evil eye is real. If something were to precede the Divine decree, it would be the evil eye.” (Ibn Majah 3508)

That means evil eye does not overpower Allah’s qadr but it is so powerful that if anything could, this would be it. Some raqis believe the evil eye opens energy ports in the person’s body, like spiritual cracks, allowing jinn to enter and expand the damage. It can affect the heart, mind, marriage, wealth, health, and even faith.

SPIRITUAL LAYERS OF THE EVIL EYE
  1. Surface Layer – mild symptoms: yawning, fatigue, laziness, disinterest in prayer.
  2. Emotional Layer – mood swings, hopelessness, negative thoughts, doubts in Allah.
  3. Physical Layer – skin issues, headaches, stomach pain, illnesses that rotate around the body with no clear diagnosis.
  4. Life Path Layer – delays in marriage, blocked rizq, failure in business or studies.
  5. Deep Spiritual Layer – interference of jinn, detachment from Qur’an, even disbelief (may Allah protect us).
HOW TO TREAT BOTH HOT AND COLD EVIL EYE
  1. Daily Adhkaar: Morning and evening supplications from Sunnah are your armor. Without them, you are exposed. (Ref: Hisnul Muslim)
  2. Surah Al-Falaq and An-Naas: Recite 3 times each after Fajr and Maghrib, and before sleeping.
  3. Surah Al-Baqarah: Reciting or playing it at home expels hidden forces of evil and blocks their return. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Do not make your houses like graves. Verily, Shaytaan does not enter a house where Surah Al-Baqarah is recited.” (Muslim 780)
  4. Ruqyah Water: Recite verses like Surah Al-Fatiha, Ayat al-Kursi, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Naas, and blow into water. Bathe and drink from it regularly.
  5. Avoid Showing Off: Don’t overshare your blessings online. Even a close one may unintentionally harm you. Say Masha’Allah on others’ blessings too.
  6. Counseling and Heart Healing: Evil eye affects emotional and spiritual health. One must strengthen faith (imaan), tawakkul, and get closer to Allah.

The evil eye is not a myth it is an ancient, real spiritual danger mentioned by Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. It manifests in both fiery, aggressive forms (hot) and slow-draining, subtle forms (cold). Its effects are deep, layered, and can destroy silently. But its cure lies in the most powerful words ever revealed: the Qur’an.

By living a life of remembrance, humility, and faith, and by following the Sunnah with protection through ruqyah and du’a, the evil eye can be completely neutralized. Allah is the Best Protector.

“And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the Reminder…” (Surah Al-Qalam 68:51)

Literal Meaning and Linguistic Insights

The phrase “layuzliqoonaka bi-absarihīm” originates from the root ز-ل-ق (z-l-q), which means to slip, slide, or figuratively, to trip someone up. Here, it conveys a powerful image: the disbelievers’ gazes are so full of hostility that, in effect, they’d almost cause the Prophet ﷺ to lose his footing physically or spiritually were it not for Allah’s protection.

CONTEXT AND SPIRITUAL DIMENSION
  1. Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr explains that the disbelievers’ intent wasn’t literal tripping; rather, it was through envious, spiteful glances an expression of deep-seated hatred. Yet, Allah safeguarded His Messenger ﷺ from any harm.
  2. Al-Wāḥidī and Ibn Kathīr both mention that this verse was revealed when certain individuals from Quraysh, specially those of Banu Asad known for their powerful gazes attempted to harm the Prophet ﷺ through the evil eye. But Allah protected him, and He revealed this verse as a sign of that protection .
Summary
  1. Hostile Gazes as a Form of Harm: The disbelievers expressed their enmity in a powerful, almost physical manner through their eyes despite this, Allah protected His Prophet ﷺ.
  2. Spiritual Protection: This verse is both a reassurance of divine safeguarding and a warning to those who harbor envy in their hearts.
  3. Mislabeling of Madness: As their response to the Qur’an’s sublime truth, the disbelievers attempted to discredit the Prophet ﷺ by branding him insane a false accusation born from spite, not reason.
  4. Affirmation of the Qur’an’s Power: Their reaction underscores the profound impact and potency of the Qur’an it was no ordinary speech, but a life-transforming Divine reminder.
WISDOM BEHIND THE EVIL EYE IN ISLAM

The existence of the evil eye serves as a reminder of the dangers of unchecked envy and the importance of remembering Allah in all situations. It teaches us to guard our hearts from jealousy and to train our tongues to say “Masha’Allah” or “Allahumma barik” when we see a blessing, whether in ourselves or others. This simple dhikr becomes a shield, transforming potential harm into a prayer for goodness.

Islam emphasizes qalb saleem a pure heart. The evil eye thrives where hearts are diseased with comparison, greed, or pride. Protecting ourselves is not just about physical measures, but also spiritual purification: being content with Allah’s decree, avoiding boasting, and sincerely wishing well for others.

Examples from the Sunnah

The Prophet ﷺ himself was affected by the evil eye. As narrated by Umm Salamah (رضي الله عنها), he saw a young girl in her house with a discolored face and said: “Seek ruqyah for her, for she has been afflicted by the evil eye.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 5739)

In another narration, Sahl ibn Hunayf (رضي الله عنه) was struck by the evil eye when a companion admired his skin without invoking Allah’s name.

The Prophet ﷺ instructed: “Why would one of you kill his brother? If you see something that pleases you, say: ‘BarakAllahu laka’ (May Allah bless it).” He then ordered the man to perform wudhu and pour the water over Sahl, which cured him instantly. (Ibn Majah 3509, Ahmad 15998)

These incidents prove that:
  1. The evil eye is real even among righteous companions.
  2. It can be cured immediately with the prophetic method of ruqyah and wudhu.
  3. Prevention is an obligation always remember Allah’s name when admiring something.
Practical Prevention Habits
  1. Daily Protection:
  • Recite Ayat al-Kursi after each prayer and before sleeping.
  • Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Naas three times in the morning and evening.
  • Read the morning and evening adhkaar from Hisnul Muslim.
  1. Modesty with Blessings:
  • Avoid oversharing personal success, wealth, or family moments on social media.
  • Keep your duas and future plans private until they are fulfilled.
  1. Train the Tongue:
  • Say Masha’Allah or Allahumma barik upon seeing something admirable.
  • Encourage your family and children to do the same.
  1. Regular Ruqyah:
  • Perform self-ruqyah even when feeling well, as prevention.
COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT THE EVIL EYE
  1. Only jealous people can give the evil eye

Misconception: Evil eye only comes from someone who hates you or envies you.

Reality: Even someone who loves you can unintentionally cause the evil eye if they admire you without remembering Allah (e.g., without saying Masha’Allah). The Prophet ﷺ taught that ‘ayn can be from anyone  including yourself upon yourself.

     2. Evil eye is always intentional

Misconception: The person must “mean it” to harm you.

Reality: Many cases are unintentional. A person’s gaze or words, charged with amazement, can cause harm without any ill will because the ‘ayn is a real effect that comes from the soul.

      3. Wearing a blue eye bead protects you

Misconception: The famous blue bead or other amulets stop the evil eye.

Reality: This belief has no basis in Islam and falls under shirk if relied upon for protection. Only Allah protects; the correct way is through duas and adhkaar taught by the Prophet ﷺ.

      4. Evil eye can be removed only by the person who gave it

Misconception: You must get water from the person suspected of giving the ‘ayn to cure it.

Reality: While the sunnah includes using water from the one who gave the ‘ayn (if known and possible), it’s not the only way. Qur’anic ruqyah, adhkaar, and Allah’s permission can remove the harm.

       5. Evil eye only affects humans

Misconception: It doesn’t affect animals, property, or objects.

Reality: ‘Ayn can affect anything a person admires animals, cars, houses, crops and cause loss or damage.

        6. You can always ‘feel’ who gave you the evil eye

Misconception: The harmed person will definitely know who gave it.

Reality: This is often guesswork and can lead to false accusations. Many times, you’ll never know the source, and suspicion without evidence is sinful.

        7. It’s just superstition

Misconception: Evil eye is a cultural belief, not real.

Reality: The Prophet ﷺ clearly said: “The evil eye is real.” It’s a spiritual reality confirmed in authentic ahadith.

THE HAASID – THE ENVIER: A DARK REALITY

In every era, there exists a silent destroyer that corrodes hearts, breaks relationships, and even harms destinies the Haasid, the envier. This is not just a jealous person. The haasid is someone whose very soul burns at the sight of your blessings, and whose inner fire seeks your downfall.

THE ROOT OF HASAD (ENVY)

The Arabic term ḥasad means to wish for the removal of another person’s blessing  whether it is wealth, beauty, status, knowledge, or even peace of mind. The haasid is not content with what Allah has decreed for them. Deep within, they believe whether consciously or subconsciously  that they deserve what you have, and you don’t.

This spiritual disease is among the most destructive to the heart, as it not only harms others but also eats away at the soul of the haasid like a fire consuming dry wood.

When a haasid (envier) burns with envy, their inner world turns into a battlefield where they are the first casualty. The heart feels heavy, as if every blessing they see in others chips away at their own peace. Their thoughts spiral, obsessively replaying the success, beauty, or happiness of the one they envy, like a wound they keep scratching until it bleeds. Sleep becomes restless, joy feels foreign, and even small moments of contentment are poisoned by comparison.

The haasid’s focus shifts from gratitude to resentment, making them blind to their own gifts. Spiritually, envy corrodes their faith, pulling them further from reliance on Allah’s decree, while emotionally it chains them to bitterness they can’t escape. It’s like carrying a fire in the chest one that burns them long before it touches the one they envy.

The haasid  the one who envies  is a figure both feared and pitied in Islamic spirituality. A haasid is not merely someone who admires another’s blessing; they are someone whose heart feels pain at the sight of another person’s success, happiness, wealth, beauty, knowledge, or status, and they wish for that blessing to diminish or disappear entirely. In the Qur’an, Allah warns against this destructive trait:

“And from the evil of the envier when he envies” (Surah Al-Falaq 113:5).

Envy, or hasad, is a deep spiritual disease that corrodes the soul, damages relationships, and destroys a person’s own blessings before it ever touches their target.

WHY DO THEY ENVY?

The root of envy often lies in a diseased heart one that is disconnected from contentment (qana’ah) and submission to Allah’s will. A haasid may envy because they feel insecure about their own worth, or because they measure their value by how they compare to others.

Some envy because they wrongly believe that life is a competition where only one person can win, forgetting that Allah’s treasures are infinite. Others are driven by pride and arrogance, feeling that they are more deserving of certain blessings than the person who has them.

Ultimately, envy stems from a lack of trust in Allah’s perfect distribution of provision (rizq) and a failure to recognize that every blessing is a test both for the one who receives it and the one who witnesses it.

WHAT DO THEY FEEL WHILE ENVYING?

When envy takes root, the haasid experiences an internal storm. Their chest feels tight when they see someone excelling. Instead of joy, they feel discomfort, bitterness, or even anger at another’s happiness. The mind becomes consumed with comparisons, replaying moments when the envied person succeeded or received praise.

The heart may pound faster in resentment, and the stomach may churn with unease. This mental fixation creates a state of constant agitation, making it difficult for the haasid to focus on their own life. They may even feel a strange relief when the other person experiences hardship  a dark emotional payoff that further corrodes their soul.

WHAT STEPS THEY TAKE

Envy is not always passive. Many haasids act on their feelings, consciously or unconsciously. Some will gossip, backbite, or spread rumors to tarnish the reputation of the person they envy.

Others may withhold help, block opportunities, or undermine projects to prevent the other from succeeding further. In more subtle forms, a haasid may simply refuse to acknowledge or congratulate someone, thinking that silence will somehow diminish their blessing.

Spiritually, a haasid may also project the evil eye (al-‘ayn) harm caused when admiration or jealousy is not coupled with remembrance of Allah. This projection can be intentional, but often it happens without conscious planning, because the envy in the heart sends out a spiritual harm towards the target.

THE EXAMPLE OF IBLEES WHEN HE ENVIED

The most infamous haasid in history is Iblees (Satan). When Allah created Adam (peace be upon him) and commanded the angels to bow to him, all obeyed except Iblees. His refusal was not based on logic but on envy and arrogance.

Iblees believed he was better because he was created from fire while Adam was created from clay. His jealousy at Adam’s honored status led him to openly defy Allah’s command: “I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay” (Surah Al-A’raf 7:12).

This envy did not just remain in his heart; it drove him to plot Adam’s downfall and vow to mislead his descendants until the Day of Judgment. This example shows that envy, if left unchecked, can lead to outright rebellion against Allah.

SIDE EFFECTS OF ENVY ON THE HEART AND BODY

Envy is not just a spiritual poison it can also harm the body. Spiritually, it darkens the heart, making worship heavy, dhikr dry, and du’a lifeless. It strips away sincerity, replacing it with obsession over other people’s blessings.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Beware of envy, for envy consumes good deeds just as fire consumes firewood” (Abu Dawood 4903). Physically, chronic envy can cause stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, fatigue, and insomnia.

The constant state of comparison and bitterness triggers the body’s stress responses, slowly wearing down health. Emotionally, the haasid may experience sadness, irritability, and isolation  all while convincing themselves that their target is the problem, not the disease In their own heart.

SIGNS OF AN ENVIER
  • Some signs of a haasid include:
  • They struggle to genuinely rejoice at others’ successes.
  • They downplay or criticize blessings others have received.
  • They are quick to notice flaws but slow to offer praise.
  • They feel bitterness when others are praised in their presence.
  • They secretly compare themselves to others in every area of life.
  • They may experience frequent restlessness, agitation, or stress when seeing someone else’s achievements.
  • While only Allah knows the secrets of the heart, these outward behaviors often point to the presence of hasad.
A MESSAGE FOR THE HAASIDS (ENVIERS)

If you find yourself envying someone, know with certainty that the blessing you resent was given by Allah, and by resenting it, you are indirectly questioning His wisdom and justice. The one you envy is not your rival in the true sense  they are simply living out the qadr (divine decree) written for them before the creation of the heavens and the earth. You are not losing because they are winning; you are losing only when your heart rejects Allah’s choice for His servants.

Remember that no blessing in this world lasts forever, and every gift carries its own hidden trials. That wealth you envy may come with sleepless nights, that beauty may come with insecurity, that position may come with pressure and loneliness. You see the surface; Allah alone knows the depths of their reality.

Instead of letting envy eat away at your peace, drain your joy, and burn away your good deeds transform it into du‘a. When you see someone enjoying a blessing, say: “Allahumma barik lahum” (O Allah, bless it for them), and then ask: “O Allah, grant me from Your bounty what is best for me in this life and the next.” With every sincere du‘a for others, your heart will soften, your soul will lighten, and Allah may bless you with even more than what you once envied.

Know that envy gains you nothing but loss loss of contentment, loss of focus on your own journey, loss of joy, and loss of reward in the Hereafter. It is a battle you can never win because you are fighting against Allah’s distribution, not against the person.

Heal your heart with dhikr, gratitude, and acceptance of Allah’s perfect plan. Train your eyes to notice your own blessings, no matter how small, and your tongue to thank Allah for them. The more you focus on what you have, the less room your heart will have to obsess over what others possess.

Detach from the culture of comparison that social media fuels. If certain people’s posts stir envy in your heart, it is not weakness to unfollow or mute them  it is wisdom and self-preservation. Surround yourself with people who remind you of Allah, not those who trigger competition and discontent.

Finally, remember the words of the Prophet ﷺ: “None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

This is the measuring stick of faith. Each time you fight envy and replace it with sincere goodwill, you are not just protecting your soul  you are elevating your rank with Allah.

MODERN SOCIAL MEDIA – THE SILENT TRAP FOR THE EVIL EYE

In today’s hyper-connected world, social media has become one of the biggest gateways for the evil eye (al-‘ayn). What was once a private moment between family and close friends is now instantly shared with hundreds  sometimes thousands of people, including strangers. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and Facebook have turned our lives into open books, where blessings are put on public display with every scroll and swipe. While technology has made communication faster, it has also made our personal lives far more vulnerable to spiritual harm.

WHY SOCIAL MEDIA MAGNIFIES THE EVIL EYE

The evil eye thrives on exposure and comparison. When you post pictures of your new home, wedding, vacation, newborn, or even a beautifully cooked meal, you are unknowingly opening a window for both admiration and envy.

And as the Prophet ﷺ taught, admiration without remembering Allah can cause real harm even from those who love you. Now imagine hundreds of people viewing your posts, some silently wishing they had what you have, others feeling bitter, and some not even realizing their gaze is spiritually harmful.

PRIVACY IS THE SHIELD

In the past, privacy was natural photos were kept in albums, conversations stayed within the home, and milestones were shared selectively. Today, oversharing has become normal. Privacy in Islam is not just about modesty in dress; it’s about safeguarding your blessings from unnecessary exposure.

Protecting your marriage, your children, your wealth, and your personal life from the eyes of strangers is a form of wisdom and self-preservation. What people don’t see, they can’t envy and what is hidden is safer from harm.

HOW THE EVIL EYE DESTROYS FAMILIES THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA

The damage caused by the evil eye via social media is real and heartbreaking:

  1. Marital Breakdown: Couples who constantly post about their “perfect marriage” often face unseen tensions later. The evil eye can create sudden arguments, loss of affection, and spiritual blocks between husband and wife.
  2. Infertility and Miscarriage: Posting pregnancy announcements or baby pictures too early has, in many cases, been followed by sudden health complications not always by coincidence.
  3. Financial Loss: Flaunting new business ventures, luxury purchases, or promotions can attract envy that spiritually weakens success.
  4. Children’s Wellbeing: Constantly showcasing children online exposes them to not only predators but also to the evil eye, which can affect their health, behavior, and emotional stability.

EXAMPLES IN REAL LIFE

There are countless real-life cases where families say, “Everything was fine until we started posting about it.” A husband and wife may have been thriving in love and unity, but after weeks of sharing couple photos, they start arguing over petty matters. A child may be healthy and happy, but after his picture goes viral among relatives and acquaintances, he suddenly falls ill with no medical explanation. These are not just coincidences they are patterns observed by experienced ruqyah practitioners and Islamic spiritual counselors.

PROTECTING YOURSELF IN THE DIGITAL AGE
  1. Limit What You Share: Not every blessing needs to be public. Share selectively and privately.
  2. Use Masha’Allah and Allahumma Barik: If you must post, include reminders to remember Allah in your captions.
  3. Strengthen Your Adhkaar: Morning and evening protection dhikr is non-negotiable.
  4. Private Accounts Are Not Foolproof: Even close friends can unintentionally cause harm.
  5. Avoid Flaunting Wealth or Intimacy: Preserve the sanctity of your home and marriage.
THE CORE LESSON

Social media has blurred the line between public and private life. In the name of sharing happiness, people have unknowingly invited spiritual harm into their most sacred spaces. The evil eye is not an old superstition It is a real, documented, and spiritually dangerous force. In today’s world, protecting your privacy is not just smart; it is a Sunnah-backed, spiritually protective measure.

What people don’t know about you, they can’t harm. What you keep between you and Allah remains under His protection. In this digital era, guarding your privacy is not about secrecy it’s about survival.
